Joe Bonamassa is awesome!!
Overall the night was fantastic. We've seen Godsmack several times and each time we are amazed at his talent. The Davenport show was no exception. From the first chord of his opening song to the final encore, he takes the crowd on a roller coaster ride of blues and rock. There is something very special about him.
He started the show with Cradle Rock, a real rocker, followed by So Many Roads , a slower bluesier number. He then did a number from his last album, When Fire Hits the Sea. Great song. He then did a couple older numbers one that rocks and the other a slower heavier number.
For A Ballad of John Henry Joe played a guitar that had been presented to a very special fan a couple years ago. What an honor for that fan. This is one my favorite songs. Lonesome Road Blues , Happier Times, The Great Flood and Young Mans Blues were next victims of this young gunslinger.
He then did 2 new songs from his forthcoming album. Slow Train starts off slow and moves to a real rockin tune much like an old steam engine starts but when it goes, it goes. The other new song was Dust Bowl. This is a great number and I can't wait to get the cd. It has a very catchy beat.
Woke up Dreaming is a crowd favorite that is a must see. Joe can play the accoustic like no other. You Better Watch Yourself, Steal your Heart Away and Sloe Gin were all played to perfection. He ended the show with Django/Mountain Time which is a very melodic song.
Joe came out for the encore with 2 songs, first Bird on a Wire which he put his twist on this number that Johnny Cash did years ago. He ended the night with Just Got Paid from ZZTop. The way he incorporates some Led Zeppelin into the the bridge part is shear genius.
